Slow Down:
I want to stop and
smell the roses as I
watch the clouds drifting.
Never Slow Down:
We can never slow
down. Because if we do, they
will catch up to us.

11.8.2010: Agreement Poem:
So we agree to disagree-
you will disagree with
everything I say, while I
will get angry and
stomp around the house.
We'll laugh, kiss, make up,
and repeat the entire process
in a few hours.

11.6.2010: Looking for _____ Poem:
I am looking for the person you
used to be. The person who talked
books with me, asked my opinion,
rubbed my feet once and bought
me cupcakes for my birthday.
I am looking for him, but cannot
find him. Instead, I see you,
obnoxious, misogynist, man-boy
whom I don't even recognize,
who can't even decide if he
wants to be my friend or not.
There's just you. I don't even
know you.

11.4.2010: Containment Poem:
The evening is settling in,
the breeze warm on our skin.
I watch her- long legs,
blonde hair, little colt-
as she catches fireflies.
I hold out the jar when
she runs to me, hands
cupped. We put her capture
in the jar and hold it
to the night, wondering
how many more for a lamp.

11.2.2010: Two for Tuesday
Ready to Start:
I am ready to start,
get this show on the road.
Pack up the car,
start then engine,
let's go, go, go!
Not Ready:
I always put off
to the last minute
getting ready, as if,
subconsciously, I
don't really want to go.

10.27.2010: What I Love About____ Poem:
What I love about you
is the way you make me laugh,
the way you cuddle up to me
in the dark, and whisper of love.
What I love about you
is how smart you are,
the way you talk,
the way you see.
What I love about you
is how you made me love me.
I can do anything, be anyone,
look any way in your eyes.
What I love about you
is the way you love me.
Your kindness and support-
how you love me no matter what.
What I love about you
is the way that we love.
With equality and respect,
friendship, our whole selves.

10.6.2010: "On the Other Side of the Fence" Poem
On the other side of the fence,
the house stands empty,
and is falling apart.
The grass is unmowed,
the green pool draws mosquitoes.
On the other side of the fence
is the face of foreclosure.
the house stands empty,
and is falling apart.
The grass is unmowed,
the green pool draws mosquitoes.
On the other side of the fence
is the face of foreclosure.

9.15.2010: Person Poem
For my teacup:
My Grandma, my teacup,
is small, it's true.
But so ready to cheer up,
so full of love for you.
My teacup, my grammy,
lovely and kind,
silly and sassy,
never far from my mind.

9.1.2010: Set the World on Fire Poem
I smelled the gasoline-
everything was drenched.
He stood on the peak,
and flicked the Bic.
I held my breath-
it didn't spark.
It began to rain.
everything was drenched.

I held my breath-
it didn't spark.

8.25.2010: Whatever____ Poem
Whatever happened to quality
tv? Sitcoms, game shows, good
entertainment? Where did all
of this "reality" come from? It's
not even real! It's all just
bad writing. Don't books and
the outdoors just look
so much better?

8.4.2010 Poem: Shopping Poem
I do not shop for clothes,
jewelry, handbags, shoes.
These are not my creature
comforts. I shop for books,
yarn, film. These are the
items that give me relief,
warmth,comfort, love.

7.14.2010: After the Rain Poem
After the rain, all is still,
the air is heavy, and a mist
rises from the grasses. Birds
chirp, softly, unsure if all is
clear. A chill touches my
bones- I shiver.

6.23.2010: The Meaning of______ Poem:
The meaning of freedom
is different for everyone.
For some, to say what
they want without
fear of execution.
For othes, to move
freely througout society.
For others, to love
and marry whom they wish.
For still others, it is
to go to school and work.
For me, as a woman,
it is all of these.
is different for everyone.
For some, to say what
they want without
fear of execution.
For othes, to move

and marry whom they wish.

6.16.2010: Stuck Poem
Your laugh makes me smile,
Your touch gives me chills,
Your ringtone makes my heart beat faster.
I am stuck on you.
You say anything to make me laugh,
You send me sweet texts,
You take such good care of me.
I think you're stuck on me, too.
Your touch gives me chills,
Your ringtone makes my heart beat faster.
I am stuck on you.
You say anything to make me laugh,
You send me sweet texts,
You take such good care of me.
I think you're stuck on me, too.

Untitled
I sit in the dark,
in the very near dark,
one lone candle burning.
The cold blade sits in my hand,
mocking- too chickenshit to
actually do anything- my
body aches. I look at the
dancing candle flame, then
back at the glint of metal
in my plam. The dull ache
in my head becomes sharper,
stronger. The metal feels
good against my warm
arm. A rustle- I look up,
and you are there. The tears
begin, but I cannot stop
them, or brush them away.
You sit, silently, and bury
your face in my hair. The
blade is taken from my
fingers, and I am pulled
against your heartbeat.
Arms envelope me, the
tears stop, and I sleep.

5.26.2010: Ways to____ Poem:
There are so many ways
to break my heaert,
and you seem to hit
on most of them-
lesser ways, sure,
but how long
until you hit the
biggest way of all,
and break my heart
forever?

and you seem to hit
on most of them-
lesser ways, sure,
but how long
until you hit the
biggest way of all,
and break my heart

5.12.2010: Monster Poem
Something lurks under the bed,
in the closet, in the darkest
corners of my room. I cannot
see it, or even smell it.
But I can certainly hear it-
hear its breathing, hear its
heartbeat. Sometimes I even
feel its hot breath on my
face when I sleep. But
when I sit up, I can see
nothing in the darkness,
but I can hear it- hear
its breathing, hear its
heartbeat, and I know
it is watching me.

4.28.2010: End of the Line Poem:
There's nowhere to go from here.
No forward, no back. Left or
right, up or down. We have
reached this point on our own,
and now we must face
whatever comes next.
